Joey Lucchesi Elects Free Agency
"Lucchesi was pushed off the roster after Sunday's scheduled starter, Ryan Johnson, was scratched with a viral infection. The Halos tabbed prospect George Klassen for a spot start."
"The 32-year-old southpaw had a very brief stint with the club. He signed a major league contract at the end of Spring Training and made three appearances."
"Lucchesi spent last season with the Giants. He opened the year in Triple-A but was called up in the middle of June, turning in a 3.76 ERA over 38 1/3 innings."
Joey Lucchesi cleared outright waivers and elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Angels. He was removed from the roster to make space for prospect George Klassen. Lucchesi had a short tenure with the Angels, making three appearances and allowing five of six hitters to reach in his debut. He issued five free passes over 2 1/3 innings. Previously, he spent last season with the Giants, posting a 3.76 ERA over 38 1/3 innings before being dropped from the 40-man roster.
