Blake Snell and Hyeseong Kim formed a close friendship after joining the Los Angeles Dodgers before the 2025 season. Snell joined from the San Francisco Giants and Kim arrived from the Korea Baseball Organization. Snell held a high opinion of Kim following a character endorsement from former Kiwoom Heroes teammate Jung Hoo Lee. Lee and Kim debuted for the Kiwoom Heroes in 2017 at age 18 and spent seven years as teammates. Lee signed with the Giants in 2024; Kim joined the Dodgers in 2025, debuted May 3, and hit .280/.314/.385 with 13 stolen bases in 71 games.
