Dean Smith emphasized that Charlotte FC is focused on taking the season one game at a time, even though they are currently performing well, sitting second in the Eastern Conference. Following a winning streak, the team aims to maintain their momentum as they prepare to face San Diego FC, who are also a promising competitor in the league. Coach Mikey Varas expressed optimism for San Diego despite recent losses, highlighting their need to capitalize on chances while learning from past performances.
"It just means that we're up there competing with the best at the moment, but there's a long way to go," Smith said of Charlotte sitting second in the East.
"I would say the positives were we played with initiative, which is something we want to do all the time," Varas said.
"We created plenty of chances, but we probably weren't ruthless enough and then we also gave up too many chances."
"We just want to take it game by game."
