ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler reported the 49ers promoting Nick Sorensen as the new defensive coordinator and considering Brandon Staley for an assistant head coach role.
When GM John Lynch spoke, he indicated the team wouldn't drift far from their defensive approach and mentioned Staley as still being a candidate: 'He's a really bright dude,' Lynch said.
