The bill signed by President Biden gives D.C. control over the RFK Stadium campus for 99 years, enabling redevelopment opportunities including housing, recreation, and a potential new stadium for the Commanders.

D.C. Mayor Bowser aims to negotiate with Commanders ownership for a new stadium at RFK, arguing it is where the team belongs, despite competition from Maryland, where they currently play.

While Commanders' principal owner Josh Harris hasn't stated a definite choice, he has referred to RFK as the team’s 'spiritual home,' indicating a possible inclination back to the site.

After securing administrative control of the RFK site, D.C. plans to transfer it in about 180 days, starting with a land survey and developing terms with the federal government.
