Brock Purdy's minicamp practice with the 49ers showcased new addition Bryce Huff, who was traded from the Eagles to enhance the team's defensive pressure on quarterbacks. Despite struggling to fit into Philadelphia's system, Huff performed well with the Jets, gathering 10 sacks in 2023. Coach Kyle Shanahan believes Huff could be the explosive pass rusher the team needs, reminiscent of Dee Ford. Huff's familiarity with the 49ers' defensive scheme is promising for his future contributions under coordinator Robert Saleh.
Purdy flicked a short-range completion, Huff breezed by, and the 49ers' final minicamp practice marched on Thursday without much fanfare.
Huff's ability to quickly disrupt a quarterback, however, is why the 49ers traded for him nearly two weeks ago from Philadelphia.
He will be our best get-off-the-ball guy we've had since Dee Ford, coach Kyle Shanahan said.
We've watched a lot of Dee Ford film in my earlier years in this scheme.
