The San Francisco 49ers have promoted DL T.Y. McGill and RB Jeremy McNichols to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.
McGill will be needed to help the 49ers' short-handed defensive line, while McNichols will likely play on special teams only.
The 49ers also signed veteran cornerback Jason Verrett to the practice squad, and McNichols gave up his jersey number for Verrett to wear.
