San Francisco police officers discovered a violent assault scene at 7th and Market streets near UN Plaza around 8 am on Monday. Officers detained Cole Wright, 31, of Oakland, who was attempting to leave the scene. The adult female victim was found on the ground with life-threatening injuries and received immediate medical aid from officers and paramedics before being transported to the hospital. Wright was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. He also had three active out-of-county warrants. Police Chief Derrick Lew stated the department will not tolerate such violence and praised the patrol officers' response.
