"We've got rain coming. It's night time. If you don't need to go out, stay home,"
"'stay home'"
Northern San Francisco experienced a major power outage leaving about 130,000 residents without electricity, primarily affecting the northern part of the city. The outage caused many restaurants and shops to close ahead of the Christmas holidays and disrupted public transport and traffic. Authorities instructed residents to stay at home and avoid roads; Mayor Daniel Lurie posted on X warning of rain and urging people not to go out. Pacific Gas & Electric Company worked with authorities to restore supply and later reported that it had stabilized the grid and did not expect further outages. Fire at a PG&E substation appeared to cause some blackouts, and full restoration time remained unclear.
