A fire began around 6 a.m. on the 1300 block of 47th Avenue near Irving Street in San Francisco's Outer Sunset, starting in a three-story home. The blaze rose to a two-alarm response and spread to two adjacent two-story homes due to balloon-frame construction that enabled rapid vertical spread. Firefighters rescued three adults; one person jumped from a rear window into a backyard and was initially listed in critical condition but was later downgraded to stable. A rescued cat later died from its injuries. Two other injured people were evaluated on scene and declined hospitalization. Crews continued extinguishing the blaze long after it was deemed under control.
