On Saturday, hundreds in San Francisco marched from Union Square through Chinatown to Embarcadero, expressing discontent with the Trump Administration's policies impacting democracy, LGBTQ+ rights, and immigrant populations. Participants, including students and long-time activists, underscored the community's solidarity in advocating for due process and against discrimination. The protest highlighted various issues, with speakers articulating personal connections to the struggles faced by marginalized communities, and a shared concern about the future of the country, emphasizing the importance of collective action to instigate change.
It's awesome to see fellow San Franciscans, you know, making a statement. We are sick of it. They're stealing our democracy. It's messed up.
For me personally, I feel as if my community, which is LGBTQ+, has been singled out. By using the trans community against all of us, I feel it personally.
We've got to do something. Due process is going away. If they can take anyone just by claiming that they're a part of a gang, they can take any of us.
I'm really afraid for the future of our country, and the only way of making that known is standing together and actually taking the time to make it inconvenient for the city.
