Sunset Buzz: Campaign offices in close proximity and free soup for teachers
"Less than four months before the District 4 supervisor election, the two leading candidates, incumbent Alan Wong and his challenger Natalie Gee, have found their campaign headquarters, just a few blocks from each other on Irving Street. Gee's campaign headquarters is at 2233 Irving St., near 24th Avenue. On a recent Wednesday, the storefront was covered by purple and orange window signs."
"Wong's headquarters will be at 1821 Irving St. near 19th Avenue. His campaign is finalizing the lease and will get the keys this weekend. An open house will follow. Other candidates - Albert Chow, David Lee and Jeremy Greco - are either searching for a space, or will operate from home. The stretch of Irving Street, dotted by boba shops, produce markets and home goods stores, will likely see plenty of merchant walks and a battle of window signs soon."
"Rusty Ladle, a soup eatery at Lawton and 43rd Avenue, has been offering a free cup of soup for striking SFUSD educators, parents, students, and sympathy strikers since Wednesday. The offer continues on Friday. "I have watched with sadness as some always blame teachers for so many things," wrote the owner John Lindsey, whose partner has taught in SFUSD for over 30 years. "Teachers want nothing more than to teach, but they can only be stepped on for so long.""
Incumbent Alan Wong and challenger Natalie Gee established campaign headquarters a few blocks apart on Irving Street at 1821 and 2233 Irving St., respectively, with Gee's storefront covered in purple and orange window signs. Wong's campaign is finalizing a lease and plans an open house. Other candidates—Albert Chow, David Lee and Jeremy Greco—are searching for space or operating from home. The Irving Street corridor of boba shops, produce markets and home goods stores is likely to see merchant walks and a battle of window signs. The SFUSD educators strike ended with a tentative deal, and Rusty Ladle offered free soup to educators. Dumpling Park's former space at 1309 9th Ave. will become Pàng, a new Chinese eatery replacing earlier gym plans.
