Stockholm's Bromma Airport's future in doubt after it loses 90 percent of air traffic
Briefly

Per G Braathen, president of the BRA airline, stated at a press conference, 'I don't think the airport will survive without us. We have been present at Bromma for 25 years and it is not profitable to run this airport. We need to concentrate on Arlanda.' This highlights the significance of BRA's operations to Bromma, indicating that the loss of their service could lead to the airport's eventual closure.
SAS CEO Anko van der Werff explained, 'The integration of BRA's fleet with SAS will enhance Swedish infrastructure but is also positioning Arlanda as a stronger central hub for domestic and international travel.' This illustrates the strategic shift towards Arlanda and the anticipated benefits for the region's air traffic landscape.
Jonas Abrahamsson, CEO of Swedavia, remarked, 'Bromma in principle will be without scheduled services.' He added that the consolidation of air traffic to Arlanda reflects a natural development despite many travellers' preferences for Bromma, indicating an irreversible trend in Swedish air travel.
Daniella Waldfogel, CEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the shift by stating that it should lead to the closure of Bromma airport being 'moved forward.' This statement reflects the broader support for consolidating air traffic at a single, more effective hub.
