SF's Fleet Week scaled down amid government shutdown, but not canceled: Here's what's different
"SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Fleet Week is back in San Francisco, but this year's celebration is noticeably scaled down. With a government shutdown still in effect, some of the event's most iconic military moments, including the Blue Angels and U.S. Navy ship tours are missing from the lineup. But despite the changes, Fleet Week is not cancelled altogether. The U.S. Navy confirmed overnight that they won't be participating because of the government shutdown."
"On Wednesday, Mayor Daniel Lurie spoke at the kickoff alongside representatives from both of those countries. He said that even during this government shutdown, the spirit of fleet week is alive in the city. "The skies over the Bay Area will still be filled with air shows and our neighborhoods will be alive with celebration and pride," Mayor Lurie said."

Fleet Week returned to San Francisco with a noticeably scaled-down program due to an ongoing government shutdown. The U.S. Navy canceled its participation, removing highlights such as the Blue Angels and Navy ship tours. Other international militaries, including Canada and Colombia, are participating, with visiting ships and sailors present. The Colombian tall ship ARC Gloria docked at Pier 15/17 and will remain for several days. The air show will proceed featuring the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds and the Patriots Jet Team in place of the Blue Angels. Some concerts were canceled while others continue; attendees are advised to check the Fleet Week website for updates.
