SF Union Square blooms with 80,000 flowers for plucking at annual Tulip Day event
Briefly

The Tulip Day event at Union Square in San Francisco attracted thousands who enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere as 80,000 tulips were distributed for free. Each attendee could select eight tulips of their choice, symbolizing the joy and vitality associated with spring. Inspired by Amsterdam's National Tulip Day, the event aimed to revitalize downtown through community engagement and foster a love for flowers. Organizers from the Union Square Alliance and the Consulate General of the Netherlands emphasized the importance of flowers in everyday life and personal spaces.
"Fun, loving tulips, start to buy more and more tulips, having them at their home all the time, putting them in their garden, fall in love with tulips, that's it," said Anne Verdoes with Royal Anthos.
Each person got to pick out eight tulips of whichever colors they liked, creating a personalized connection to the flowers while celebrating spring.
