SF Mayor Lurie moves ahead with plans to add 1,500 beds for unhoused: Here's a look at proposal
Briefly

Mayor Daniel Lurie is working on a proposal to add 1,500 beds for the unhoused in San Francisco. This ambitious plan aims to use existing community spaces and possibly repurpose struggling hotels into accommodations for the homeless. Currently, there are 3,200 shelter beds in the city, with the new beds representing a significant increase. The proposal also includes various types of housing solutions, such as psychiatric beds and housing vouchers. Challenges remain, particularly regarding available land and community cooperation.
"We're working, we're going to use existing sites, we'll have some new sites but we're working with community groups and supervisors to determine those now," insisted Lurie.
"There are plenty of hotels right now that are suffering that would gladly hand over their buildings to accommodate more homeless individuals" explained Good, CEO of Five Keys.
