The San Francisco city attorney's office has successfully shut down three illegal gambling dens and two illegal nightclubs, which had been causing significant disturbance in the community. City Attorney David Chiu expressed appreciation for property owners who cooperated to end these unlawful activities, which included loud after-hours parties featuring gambling and alcohol. Neighbors had complained about noise and disturbances, prompting the city’s intervention. The property owners involved have agreed to take action to ensure compliance with regulations, resulting in evictions and closure of establishments that violated the law.
I appreciate that the property owners cooperated with our demands to put an end to this wildly illegal conduct.
You could hear it blasting through the building with all my windows closed and me watching TV.
Following visits to the site, on Jan. 6 the city attorney's office sent a letter to property owner Shirley Conway requiring her to put an end to the unsanctioned activity.
As of March 19, the city attorney's office wrote in the press release, 'The owner reached an agreement with her tenants to bring them into compliance.'
