The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is one of California's largest celebrations of Asian traditions and the biggest on the West Coast. The Festival began in 1968 to cultivate the alliance between Japan and the United States through cultural exchange. The event draws over 220,000 visitors who experience performances, displays, and community celebrations in San Francisco's Japantown and coincides with cherry blossom season. The Festival includes a Grand Parade on the final Sunday featuring taiko drummers, dancers, and decorative floats. Admission is free.
