"I think it's going to bring more people together, make it more alive for the island,"
"The scenery, it's good for the kids, walking the dog,"
"If you turn your cameras around and look at this view, it's astounding. It's a place the community can come to but also the region and the rest of the country has a new park to visit when they come to San Francisco,"
"This is the biggest new neighborhood that's been created in San Francisco, we want to have that neighborhood be for a wide range of household types and a wide range of incomes,"
Cityside Park on Treasure Island opened with a formal dedication, offering six acres of Bayfront green space and sweeping views of San Francisco. The park cost $12 million and will serve as the first stop for ferry visitors, designed to attract local, regional, and national visitors. The park anchors a major redevelopment that plans about 8,000 market-rate and affordable homes for roughly 18,000 residents, alongside shops and restaurants. The project aims to create a diverse neighborhood across household types and incomes. Treasure Island was built for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition and later served as a Navy base.
