Porta-Potty Catches Fire Outside Alamo Square Home of Dog Walker Targeted in Racists Threats
"The home wasn't damaged in Saturday's fire, but its exterior was charred. As SFist reported at the time, Williams wasn't home when the 2024 fire broke out, but his elderly parents had to be rescued by firefighters. Williams told KTVU his 76-year-old disabled mother Carolyn almost died in the fire. To me, it's a miracle that they found me. It scares me sometime, Carolyn told KTVU."
"Per SFist, a few weeks before the fire, Williams received racist hate mail, including a voodoo doll depicting a Black person with a noose around his neck, as well as postcards and other mail containing racist and threatening language. On November 6, 2024, the San Francisco Police Department identified the person suspected of the racist threats as April Martin Chartrand, a 67-year-old Black artist and Williams' neighbor, per SFist. I was shocked, Williams told KTVU when he heard who the suspect was."
A porta-potty outside Terry Williams' Alamo Square home was set on fire early Saturday while the house remains under reconstruction after a May 2024 blaze. The house exterior was charred but not structurally damaged. Williams' elderly parents required rescue during the 2024 fire, and his 76-year-old disabled mother Carolyn nearly died and later died in January 2025, possibly from exacerbated health issues. Weeks before the 2024 fire, Williams received racist hate mail including a voodoo doll and threatening postcards. The SFPD identified neighbor April Martin Chartrand as a suspect in November 2024 and is seeking public help to locate her under an arrest warrant.
