PG&E has announced power shutoffs to five Bay Area counties as a fire risk reduction measure due to extreme weather conditions, including high temperatures and strong winds.
In anticipation of the heat wave, PG&E mentioned, 'Once severe weather has passed and it is safe to do so, PG&E will work quickly to patrol and inspect lines and restore power for customers as soon as possible.'
PG&E's Community Resource Centers will provide essential services to residents during the outages, including ADA-accessible restrooms, device charging, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, bottled water, and snacks.
The heat wave is set to reach extreme temperatures, with San Francisco hitting around 90 degrees and San Jose possibly reaching 100 degrees, raising significant fire risk.
