My Family Nearly Burned to Death After Our Dishwasher Exploded-Here's the Common Mistake That Sparked the Blaze

Simone Anderson of Topeka, KS, lost nearly everything in her home to fire and smoke damage after her nightly ritual of running the dishwasher before bed turned into a living nightmare.

'You’re half-asleep, still kind of waking up,' she recounts. 'There’s no way there’s a real fire. But he said the dishwasher was completely engulfed in flames.'

'When I got to the door, the house was full of smoke,' she says. 'The smoke was so thick, there was no way we could go back in.'
