The model boating season opens at Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park with the Tony Marshall Ragtop/Stinkpot Relay Regatta, a friendly relay competition beginning around 1:00 PM on the north side of the lake. The event brings together skippers and boats from the Power Squadron, known as "stinkpots," and the Radio-Control Sail Squadron and Freesail Squadron, called "ragtops."
