The outage was impacting traffic signals in multiple parts of the city. As of 4 pm, some neighborhoods were seeing power restored."
A cascading power outage began just before 10 am and spread across multiple San Francisco neighborhoods. About 65,000 PG&E customers, representing over 100,000 residents and businesses, lost power by Saturday afternoon. The outage began at 9:40 am impacting roughly 14,600 customers in the Inner Sunset, Forest Hill, and nearby neighborhoods, then expanded by 10:10 am to parts of the Richmond, Presidio, and Market Street affecting about 25,000 customers. By 3 pm the Outer Sunset, Hayes Valley, Alamo Square, and the Mission District were also affected, and BART and Muni bypassed several stations. Traffic signals failed in multiple areas. Some neighborhoods began seeing power restored by 4 pm. PG&E has not reported a cause. Small businesses faced disrupted holiday sales.
