Markham's new electric scooter and bike program, in partnership with Scooty Mobility, aims to enhance connectivity for residents and visitors while promoting eco-friendly transport options.
Mayor Frank Scarpitti emphasized the initiative's goal: "We want to make sure that when you arrive here, that you get to your destination as easily, as efficiently and as accessible as possible."
Scooty CEO Shoaib Ahmed highlighted the app-based rental model stating, "Our thesis is specifically to connect people to and from public transport," reinforcing the program's utility.
With the pilot spanning two months, Markham joins other Greater Toronto Area cities in exploring the benefits of micro-mobility and reducing urban congestion.
