A portable, affordable heater/cookstove that could be used anywhere, by civilians as well as by soldiers on the front lines, seemed like such a practical way to help.
The event truly qualifies for the description 'only in San Francisco.' It is free and open to the public, but if you really want to polish your halo, you can sign up to volunteer!
