The ruling approves a January request by the Google-owned company to expand its fared ride-hailing service from San Francisco down through Sunnyvale. It also allows Waymo to launch paid-fare service in Los Angeles.
In a Monday statement to SFGATE, Waymo spokesperson Julia Ilina called the approval a "vote of confidence in our operations," but she added that there is no timeline for when the fared pickups and dropoffs will begin in the expansion areas.
