Lightning strikes New Jersey sea turtle hospital, causing fire; turtles rushed to safety
Briefly

Around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, lightning struck the Sea Turtle Recovery Hospital at the Turtle Back Zoo, igniting a fire that threatened the sea turtles inside.
The Sea Turtle Recovery staff worked swiftly with zoo employees to ensure the turtles were moved to safety, particularly a critically endangered Kemp's ridley named Pickles.
'Our loggerhead, a green sea turtle, and all three Kemp's were stabilized,' Sea Turtle Recovery stated, indicating the turtles were being monitored closely after the incident.
Despite potential damage to their tanks and filtration system from the fire, Sea Turtle Recovery expressed gratitude for the fire department's quick response and support from zoo staff.
