Oakland has launched a five-point homelessness plan that includes creating an Office of Homelessness Solutions in City Hall. A shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis killed at least two children, injured 17 people including adults, and left the shooter, a man in his early 20s, dead. Visa committed to hold its annual Visa Payments Forum at the Moscone Center through 2030, with about 3,000 attendees expected next year. Containment of the Pickett Fire in Napa County rose to roughly 25%, while evacuation orders remain active. An 18-year-old was arrested in a Newark stabbing, and San Jose increased fines on blighted properties to up to $10,000 per day. The Orgy Dome at Burning Man was destroyed by a dust storm, and the group behind it says it plans to rebuild, possibly next year.

SF-based Visa has just announced a multi-year commitment to having its annual Visa Payments Forum conference at the Moscone Center. The conference is expected to draw 3,000 attendees next year, and Visa has signed on to have the conference here through 2030.
