Following Diageo's withdrawal of sponsorship from SF Pride amidst political turmoil, The Ivy Room in Albany has announced it will boycott Diageo's liquor brands. This includes popular names like Ketel One, Johnny Walker, and Guinness. The bar expressed their stance on Facebook, citing a refusal to support companies that make business decisions shaped by hatred, particularly in light of the current sociopolitical climate. This boycott marks a notable response from the LGBTQ+ community against corporate sponsorship dynamics in pride celebrations and may set an example for others.
We will be pulling all products that are distributed by @Diageo, the bar said in a Monday Facebook post. Diageo has decided to pull their funding from @SanFranciscoPride, and we just can't support a company that makes business decisions based on hatred.
This might set a good example for all of us to follow.
