The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision between an 18-wheeler and a car in San Francisco. The crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. Saturday on eastbound I-80 near 7th Street. The vehicles involved were a Chevy Camaro and a Recology transfer truck. The car struck sand barrels, then crossed the bridge railing and fell into the San Francisco Police Department impound lot below. Four people were in the car, and one passenger died at the scene. Investigators are examining speed as a possible factor. Recology stated that safety is its top priority and that it is working with authorities to determine what happened.
