50 years after debut, rock iconoclast plays electrifying SF show
"On Wednesday, an atmospheric river dumped buckets on San Francisco, leaving locals huddling under umbrellas and tracking wet boot prints into their homes. It's as clear a signal as can be: It's indoor season in the Bay Area. While others might be hunkering down, SFGATE isn't. For our weekly Fogcutter column, our journalists track down the city's best events - small concerts, food festivals, park gatherings - and report on what they see."
"About 3,000 attendees took over the grand nave to sample teas from 33 vendors based around the world, from California and Oregon to Nepal, Japan and South Korea. Under the 660-foot skylight, I drained cup after cup of warm and iced green, black and white teas. I went back for seconds of a hojicha latte from Berkeley's COBA Coffee & Tea."
An atmospheric river drenched San Francisco, marking the start of indoor cultural season across the Bay Area. Events continue despite the wet weather, including small concerts, food festivals, and park gatherings. Highlights include a standout 2025 band performance, a new KAWS exhibit at SFMOMA, and a comparison between coffee and tea festivals. The San Francisco International Tea Festival sold out again, drawing about 3,000 attendees and 33 vendors from California, Oregon, Nepal, Japan and South Korea. Notable tastings included a hojicha latte from Berkeley's COBA Coffee & Tea and a pan-toasted TeAlley smoky oolong from Taiwan. The festival is booked for May 2-3, 2026.
