Five individuals have been charged in connection with a significant gun-trafficking ring based in Vallejo, where members allegedly exploited gang rivalries to sell firearms. Using a Super 8 motel as their operations center, they conducted illegal gun deals often totaling thousands of dollars. The investigation, spearheaded by the ATF, utilized a confidential informant who facilitated multiple firearm purchases from the accused. Charges against the defendants include felon possession of guns and illegal firearm transfers, highlighting the serious implications of their criminal activities in relation to gang violence.
In one conversation, the informant discussed selling guns to rival Norteno and Sureno gangs, with one member acknowledging money was the only condition for the sale.
Federal prosecutors described the motel as a hotspot for both drug trafficking and the illegal arms trade, showcasing how intertwined these criminal activities can be.
