"One was hidden in a laundry hamper in Palma's bedroom closet. It contained more than 400 grams of methamphetamine, 200-plus grams of a mixture containing fentanyl, other controlled substances and digital scales. A loaded gun was found in the same pack."
"Evidence presented at the trial included text messages from Palma's phone, which prosecutors said showed he sold fentanyl, methamphetamine and other narcotics in East Oakland and the Tenderloin over a period of seven months spanning 2022 and 2023."
Maxfer Palma was found guilty on four counts following a five-day trial, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, distributing drugs on premises where children were present, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Police discovered drugs hidden in two backpacks at his apartment: one concealed in a laundry hamper containing over 400 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl mixture, and a loaded gun; the other hidden in a dog crate with over 1,700 grams of methamphetamine. Multiple children, including two under age 10, were present at the apartment during the search. Text message evidence showed Palma sold narcotics across East Oakland and the Tenderloin over seven months in 2022-2023. The jury acquitted him on two counts related to a separate San Francisco incident.
