A masked man entered a pawn shop and sold two wristwatches to a 60-year-old customer. After the customer moved to the display area, the man removed a glove, showed what appeared to be a metal pipe, and struck the customer in the head. The customer fell and was hit repeatedly, causing severe bleeding. The man then went to the rear of the shop, stole coins and jewelry into a backpack, and continued striking the customer until he was motionless. He took the victim’s ring and other personal property, left, and was later tracked by surveillance. The victim suffered severe head and brain blunt force trauma, died on April 17, 2022, and the attacker was convicted in April of two counts of second-degree murder and related crimes.
