According to data from Australia-based real estate analytics firm PropTrack, U.S.-based searches for Aussie homes for sale rose 51% from a year earlier.
PropTrack senior data analyst Karen Dellow states, 'It is common to see a spike in searches from overseas when there is political or economic turmoil in other countries.'
The surge in buyer interest from America means that the U.S. overtook New Zealand as the top origin country for overseas property searches in Australia.
Dellow emphasizes, 'It is more likely that Australians living abroad are the majority of searchers when there are events that affect their standard of living.'
