Ursula Jones Dickson has been appointed as Alameda County's new District Attorney, succeeding Pamela Price, who was recalled by voters. Dickson, an experienced judge and former deputy district attorney, emphasized her commitment to community safety and victim support, asserting she won't be influenced by political organizations. She will serve until November 2026, when the county will elect a DA for a full term. Dickson was one of seven finalists out of fifteen applicants, showcasing her extensive legal experience and previous leadership roles within the Alameda County court system.
"The DA has a specific job to do," she said. "That job, from the beginning to the end ... is to do what's right for the community, protect public safety, and lift up the victims."
Fifteen people applied for the DA's job, and the Board of Supervisors selected and interviewed seven finalists.
