Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy became visibly upset during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing when Sen. Patty Murray challenged the ethics of his Great American Road Trip. Duffy had announced a seven-month family road trip filmed as a reality show. Critics said Duffy and other Fox commentators had attacked former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for taking parental leave while working, and Duffy faced additional criticism for accepting corporate sponsorships from companies he is supposed to regulate. Murray asked how much Duffy spent on gas, and Duffy said he did not know because the trip was funded by a nonprofit. Murray clarified that the nonprofit solicited funds from private organizations, and online research identified corporate sponsors including Boeing, Shell, and Royal Caribbean Group.

"The free seven-month trip is just the kind of gift from the private sector that gives the appearance of corruption that, in simpler times, politicians tried to avoid. Duffy told Murray that even though he doesn't even know what the gas bill was, he knows it was less than it would have been under Joe Biden. "Holy cow," Murray muttered under her breath, likely exasperated by how often Trump admini"
