The left has Progress Toronto. A new advocacy group hopes to fill gap on centre-right | CBC News
Briefly

A Better City (ABC) Toronto, a newly formed centrist political advocacy group, is poised to impact municipal politics by addressing issues like safety, housing, and congestion. Established by Ariella Kimmel, the group seeks to unite individuals from Conservative and Liberal backgrounds, as well as independents, reflecting a diverse membership. Its launch follows the activism of left-wing Progress Toronto, which recently succeeded in a municipal by-election. ABC Toronto's initial actions include petitions against a significant property tax increase and in support of contentious local policy changes, indicating its intent to shape local governance discussions.
"They're following the playbook of their political opponents," said Myer Siemiatycki, professor emeritus of politics at Toronto Metropolitan University, regarding the new advocacy group.
Kimmel is not shy about the fact that her group is "quite a bit in response to Progress Toronto," though she emphasizes their focus on distinct issues.
