Supervisors to initiate sheriff removal process Thursday
"The 59-page report allegedly supports Corpus' removal by alleging that she broke the law related to her duties and obstructed an investigation."
"Since the approval of Measure A by voters, the Board of Supervisors has been working to define the proceedings for potential sheriff removal."
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will vote on whether to begin proceedings to remove Sheriff Christina Corpus, following a report by law firm Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP. The report alleges serious misconduct by Corpus, including legal violations and obstruction of investigations. Voters recently approved Measure A, granting the Board authority to remove a sheriff, leading to the establishment of removal procedures. A public hearing will be conducted if initiated, overseen by Chief Probation Officer John Keene.
