SF Ballet's Nutcracker is a dazzling tradition that's thankfully not going away

The 2023 production of The Nutcracker by San Francisco Ballet not only upholds its historical significance as the first U.S. performance of the ballet in 1944, but also highlights the recent demands from dancers for better wages and safety conditions.

Following significant demands from the dancers and stage managers for better wages and health-related precautions, an agreement was reached just in time for the opening night of The Nutcracker, allowing the performances to proceed with excitement and relief.
