San Jose protest against President Trump draws hundreds - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

On Presidents Day, approximately 1,500 protesters gathered in downtown San Jose to express opposition to President Trump's policies. Organizers highlighted issues such as anti-immigration and anti-LGBTQ+ stances that have fueled fear in communities. The grassroots coalition, 50501, inspired similar protests nationwide. Speakers at the rally, including state assembly member Ash Kalra, emphasized the importance of civic engagement and the need for more elected officials to support the movement. The demonstrations illustrate a significant backlash against perceived authoritarianism in government.
I'm frightened and angry as a woman, as a supporter of all kinds of rights for different groups. (Trump is) trying to make the executive function predominant over the other branches ... and that is going to be very hard to endure.
Somebody has to stand up, somebody has to say, 'I personally am not okay with this and I'm going to do something about it.'
I'm happy to see so many people attend the protest, and that more elected officials needed to be there.
