Nancy Pelosi endorses SF Supervisor Connie Chan in the race to replace her in Congress
"“I know and love this district. I know the Congress, and I know Connie,” Pelosi said. “I'm proud to endorse Democrat Connie Chan and ask you to join me in electing her to Congress.”"
"Chan told ABC7 that health care remains a major burden for many residents. “The burden of healthcare, burden for medication. "MORE: Who will replace Nancy Pelosi after she leaves Congress in January 2027? She added that the Affordable Care Act - which Pelosi helped pass - “built a great foundation for us to push to the next step,” and said it is a coalition she intends to continue in Washington, D.C."
Nancy Pelosi announced she is endorsing San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan to replace her in Congress for California’s 11th Congressional District. Pelosi said she knows the district, knows Congress, and knows Chan, and she urged voters to elect Chan. Pelosi plans to retire at the end of her term next January after more than 40 years in office. Chan is one of three leading contenders for the seat. Chan said healthcare remains a major burden, including medication costs that force people to choose between groceries and medication. Chan called for reversing cuts to healthcare and expanding coverage. Chan also said the Affordable Care Act built a foundation for further progress and that she intends to continue building a coalition in Washington, D.C.
