Director Ellen Corbett spent decades in the political world, including serving as the Ward 4 director for East Bay Regional Park District and the former state senate majority leader.
According to EBRPD General Manager Sabrina Landreth, Corbett was a fearless leader for regional parks, advocating for public access to open spaces and nature.
Flags at the park district's properties will be flown at half-staff in honor of Corbett, who had a long, decorated career in local and state government.
