Gilbert Wong, a former trustee of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, filed a motion dismissing his lawsuit against the district and its board members with prejudice, concluding a lengthy legal dispute.
Wong's lawsuit claimed that the college board violated open meeting laws and his due process rights, along with allegations of racism following a censure for remarks made against former De Anza College President Lloyd A. Holmes.
The settlement, the terms of which remain undisclosed, allows the district to move forward, as a spokesperson expressed desire to focus on student goals post-litigation.
Board President Peter Landsberger expressed relief that the case concluded positively for the district, emphasizing the importance of redirecting focus back onto the student community.
