Democratic governor makes decision about 2028 presidential run
Briefly

In a recent appearance on ABC's "The View," Maryland Gov. Wes Moore confirmed he will not be running for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. While his name has been mentioned as a strong candidate by celebrities and political analysts alike, Moore stressed his dedication to Maryland's governance. Prominent figures, such as George Clooney, have praised his leadership amidst challenges, but Moore remains focused on his current responsibilities, maintaining that his work in the state is his priority over potential presidential aspirations.
I am not running," Moore said about five times when pressed on ABC's "The View" Thursday by comedian Joy Behar. "I am really excited about the work that's happening right now in the state of Maryland."
I like him a lot," Clooney went on. "I think he could be someone we could all join in behind."
Most politicians do not say things like that. They say, 'It's too early,' all sorts of things," Behar protested. "Wait a minute, what if we really, really need you?
Moore has led the Old Line State since 2023, and he's tried to portray himself as a pragmatist as well as someone committed to showing the public that the government can work.
