Closed door helped save Gov. Shapiro and his family in arson attack on their home: officials
Briefly

In a harrowing incident at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's mansion, Cody Balmer, 38, allegedly broke in and set the residence on fire using Molotov cocktails. Fortunately, a closed door helped contain the flames, allowing Shapiro's family to escape unharmed. The fire chief noted that if the door had been open, the situation could have turned dire. Balmer later confessed to his actions, expressing hatred for the governor, and faces serious charges including attempted murder and arson.
If the door in question had been left open, it would have definitely put the governor at even greater risk. This closure partly helped contain the flames.
Shapiro was awoken by a state trooper banging on his bedroom door at around 2 a.m., leading to the rapid evacuation of him, his family, and guests.
