The Supreme Court's decision to lift a federal judge's temporary ban on the elimination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) affects 350,000 Venezuelan migrants, raising fears of deportation. Adelys Ferro, director of the Venezuelan American Caucus, expressed that although this ruling poses risks, it could have been worse. She highlighted the ongoing legal battle and the uncertainty for TPS beneficiaries. Ferro emphasized that until updates are made to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, the community remains in a precarious situation with their status potentially changing at any moment.
The Supreme Court could have ruled that the California federal judge lacked jurisdiction or overridden Secretary Noem’s order, which would have completely ended TPS.
As long as the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website isn't updated, people will continue to have status, but the change will come at any moment.
