A vibrant destination? Palo Alto dreams big on Cubberley - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

Palo Alto's City Council has initiated a promising journey to repair Cubberley Community Center after decades of failed attempts. Unlike previous efforts that floundered due to disagreements with the school district, recent collaboration has paved the way for progress. The city is aiming for a draft plan by year-end and hopes to secure voter approval for a necessary bond in November 2026. Once the bond is passed, the city will have expanse over 15 acres to revitalize the center, which serves various community organizations despite its deteriorating state.
This time, however, city leaders have some reasons to feel optimistic.
Many residents have gone through several unsuccessful attempts to reimagine Cubberley.
The city and the district reached a deal allowing the former to purchase 8 acres of land.
