The secrets of a 43-year-old Sierra Nevada music festival's longevity
Briefly

Since its inception in 1982, the Strawberry Music Festival has fostered a culture of community and accessibility, foregoing VIP tickets and inviting attendees of all ages to enjoy music together. Festivalgoers, or 'Strawberrians,' engage actively in different music-making activities throughout the event. Central to the festival's identity are its values of kindness and cooperation, termed the 'Strawberry Way.' Despite challenges like wildfires and venue changes, the festival continues to thrive, attracting around 3,000 visitors each year and enhancing its offerings with a renewed fall festival after several years.
The festival doesn't sell VIP tickets - everyone waits in the same line for seats at the main stage.
I like to think of Strawberry as my own utopia... we can be our best.
The Strawberry Music Festival has certainly experienced many challenges... and yet, it endures.
Over Memorial Day weekend, about 3,000 festivalgoers... will gather at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
